In-Person Service Cancelled

Good morning, Mercy Hill Family,

Unfortunately, the weather just hasn’t cooperated this week. The entire parking lot is a sheet of frozen snow and rain that we aren’t able to clear by tomorrow morning. After talking with the Leadership Team and staff, we’ve decided to cancel in-person services tomorrow, February 14.

We will livestream a service, as usual, starting at 10am. You can go to our Youtube page, or watch on Facebook (click on link to be taken to the page).

Also, if you need a grocery run and can’t get out, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We are able to get out and about and would love to help out any way we can. Main roads are fine, although many driveways and side roads are still treacherous.

It may be a cold Valentine’s Day tomorrow, but we will celebrate the goodness, kindness and love of a Savior who endured the shame and pain of the cross to win you for all eternity. We hope you’ll gather with us online and endure the awkwardness of online church. It’s not the same as gathering in-person, but I’m thankful for a way to still worship “together” in spite of the quarantining and icy conditions.

Blessings, friends!

Christ is All,

Pastor Aaron
(on behalf of the Leadership Team)

Men’s Discipleship Breakfast

Calling all men! The first Saturday of each month we will host a Discipleship Breakfast. The food is served at 8am and then we’ll have a talk highlighting a faithful man from history (Martin Luther, Eric Liddell, Hudson Taylor, etc…) There will be a suggested donation of $5 to cover the cost of the food. Feel free to invite a friend.

Night of Carols (December 13th)

Sunday evening, December 13th, we will be having an intimate night filled with Christmas Carols, scripture reading, and prayer. There will also be a time for special requests, so come with your favorite carol in mind!

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

Since 1845, the IMB has partnered with churches through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to send missionaries to live and work among those around the world with little to no access to the gospel. This year, our goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is $2,400. You can give using the Mercy Hill Envelopes in the foyer, online at mhchurch.org/give under “Lottie Moon”, or mail in your offering. For more information, contact info@mhchurch.org.

Membership Class (December 6th)

We will be having a Membership Class, December 6th after service with a lunch break in between. Sign ups will be in the lobby and online. Space is limited, so please sign up so we can prepare accordingly! Sign up here: Membership Class Sign Ups

Caroling Through Jackson (December 19th and 20th)

Time to spread some Christmas cheer! We thought it would be a nice gift to visit some of our members who haven’t been able to attend (and others in the neighborhood) for some socially distanced caroling. You don’t even need to open the door! Just open some windows, and we’ll spread some Christmas cheer to you. If you would like to be visited, or you would like to be a caroler, please email info@mhchurch.org.

Christmas Eve Service

Please consider joining us for a Christmas Eve service at 7pm on December 24. We will have all the usual social distancing guidelines in place, along with Christmas carols, and a brief message pointing us to Jesus. To help us make sure we are providing enough space for every family, please register your family by clicking here. If we find that we need to add an additional service we will do so.

Church Work Project Sign Ups

Our church building is in need of some TLC. In the foyer is a list of tasks needing to be done (ex: cleaning the church steeple, fixing the trailer stairs, etc.). So, if you enjoy fixing things or have been wanting more ways to get involved, we would appreciate your help! If you haven’t been physically attending church, just email info@mhchurch.org or aaron@mhchurch.org and we’ll help you find a task that suits you.

Operation Christmas Child Last Update

This Sunday, November 15th will be the last Sunday we’ll collect boxes. If you can stay after church, we could use help loading up the boxes for delivery to the distribution center on Wednesday, Nov. 18th.

One last thing we would like to include with each box is a card or handwritten note of love and encouragement to the child receiving the box . The Tribe Kids have been great to make these, but we could certainly use more! Thank you!

Operation Christmas Child October Update

Your generosity has been awesome – the donations have simply poured in! We have filled 101 shoeboxes – thank you Mercy Hill! We are still collecting items, and if you want to fill your own, we still have some empty boxes.

If you haven’t been able to get out to shop, but still want to help, there are a couple of ways. Each box costs $9 to send, so we still need about $350 to cover the postage. If you’d like to donate by check, make it to Mercy Hill and write shoebox on the memo line. (This is tax deductible.) If you’d rather donate by cash, you can give it to Shelba, Vicky, or put it in the large jar on the display table. Another thing we would like to include with each box is a handwritten note of love and encouragement to the child. The Tribe Kids have been working on these, but we certainly could use more. You can place these on the counter in the kitchen area.
