Face Covering Order Compliance

Hey, Church Family!

Well, if you had told me 5 months ago that I’d be sending out an email about mandatory face masks in our worship services I would have said you were nuts. But here we are.

As you know, the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Department sent out the following order:

“Face Coverings must be worn by:
1️⃣ All persons over the age of 9, including employees or visitors, at a public space or business.
2️⃣ All persons over the age of 9 outside in a public space when anyone other than members of a household or living unit will be within 6 feet; or
3️⃣ All persons over the age of 9 attending a gathering of individuals who are not members of the same household in any area which will necessarily involve close contact or proximity to others when 6 feet separation is not feasible. This restriction does not apply gatherings of individuals at personal residences.
Exemptions have been allowed for those individuals that have medical reasons that may prevent them from wearing a face covering.
To view the full Public Health Face Covering Order: http://ow.ly/ablR50AvRs1″

As a church, here are our expectations:

Expectations:

  1. We want to honor God and obey Romans 13. So, we submit to the governing authorities joyfully and willingly.
  2. We will love one another and seek to be a people of grace and mercy. That is our standard- not our views on face masks.
  3. Per the order- Everyone over the age of 9 will wear a face mask while traveling from your car into the building all the way to your seat. Once you are in your seat, and properly distanced from others you can choose to remove your mask or leave it on.
  4. Wear a face mask if you need to move around in the building (i.e going to the restroom).
  5. Wear a mask as you leave the building.
You can also watch a video explaining these expectations below.

If a guest comes in and is not compliant, please show grace and patience. We want to major on love. Thank you for being flexible and choosing to show mercy in that situation!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Have a great week!

Christ is All,

Aaron

Operation Christmas Child (Christmas in July)

It’s Christmas in July!

… OR at least when Mercy Hill will be starting to get ready for Operation Christmas Child!

This year the National Collection Week is November 16-23, but since we set our goal to pack 150 boxes, we want to get an earlier start. Yes, at least 150 – did you know that last year a small rural church in our area packed 750 shoeboxes?

Here are some ways you can participate:

  • In August we will be collecting school and craft supplies. There are lots of sales during the month of August for these items! A plastic container can be found to the right as you enter the church. See the list below for items requested:

pencils

pens

crayons

glue sticks

markers

colored pencils

pencil case

pencil sharpeners

blank index cards

solar calculators

blunt tip scissors

rulers

adhesive tape

erasers

notebooks

coloring books

chalk

watercolor sets

protractor

stickers

picture books

drawing pads

Note: These must fit into a shoebox, so please consider the size when buying. Remember there can

be no liquids or sharp pointed items, and play dough is not recommended.

  • Donate money to pay for the shipping of each box – at $9 per box, we will need to collect $1350. There will be a collection jar on the counter each Sunday, beginning in August, if you just want to lighten your wallet or pockets! Or you can write a check to the church, and note that it is for the Shoebox Ministry-tax deductible!

  • Make things to be included in the box. The sewing group will be making dolls, bears, blankets, etc. You are invited to join this group if you’d like to help. Perhaps you know how to crochet/knit a hat or scarf. Others might find it fun to put together small kits for: sewing, fishing, gardening, tools, craft or jewelry-making, or even make a game (like the one you find at Country Barrel). These homemade gifts are extra special!

Look for more ways to contribute to Operation Christmas Child in future newsletters! We will promote collections in September and October as well as have envelopes available for those who would like to pack their own boxes. Donna Shaver (573-380-6797) dshaverch@yahoo.com & Shelba Davis (573-803-7717) are the ladies to contact if you have any questions!

Shelby Kate is on the final leg of her support! She is still looking for individuals to partner with her both prayerfully and financially as she goes on staff with a college ministry called Campus Outreach. She currently needs $1,385 in monthly support. If 14 people were willing to give $100/month then her goal would be reached! Pray and consider if God would lead you to this amount or another according to your financial ability! She is in need of monthly support in order to have a consistent income to live off of. Childcare Services start July 19th

We know that what families feel comfortable with at this time will vary, however, we want to provide options in order to accommodate as many as possible. Children are still welcome and encouraged to sit in the sanctuary with their families or view from home via the livestream. We also plan to offer childcare at the 10:00 am service on July 19th as a “trial run,” and will move forward from there after more volunteer input, prayer, and consideration.

Here is the outline of childcare services that will be available:
  • Nursery (ages 0-2) = 10:00-end of service
  • Toddler Room (ages 2-5) = 10:00-end of service
  • TRIBE (grades K-4) = right before sermon portion of service – end of service
    • **NEW: TRIBE kiddos will begin by sitting in the church service with their parents. They will participate in the worship songs. Then, Aaron will dismiss them to TRIBE  right before he begins the sermon. They will stay in TRIBE until the end of the service. The purpose of this is so the children can experience a corporate worship experience with their family and feel as if they are part of our church body.

Here are some of the guidelines we will have in place:

  • To help with social distancing, the TRIBE kids will go out to the trailer. The toddlers (2-5) will meet in the large room to the right of the refrigerator (current TRIBE room), and the nursery will stay in the same place.
  • Childcare workers will be wearing masks.
  • Parents are NOT allowed to enter the childcare rooms. Meet at the door of the designated classroom to dropoff/pickup your child.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in all rooms.
*There will be a Childcare Ministry meeting after each service July 12th for parents and childcare workers*

 New Service Times

We have one service at 8:30 am and another service at our regularly scheduled time, 10 am. Our livestreams will continue at 10 am on Facebook and Youtube. We ask that anyone who can make it to the 8:30 am service please do so! This opens up space at the 10 am service for guests who don’t watch the videos and receive the newsletters. Also, if you do happen to come to the in-person services, please make sure you are moving all the way to the front of the sanctuary, and please try to leave the middle section open for larger families.
If you would like to help be on the clean up crew in between services, please contact aaron@mhchurch.org
Please continue to check back here or on the app for updates!

    • Ways to Give from Home:
We as God’s people and the church, especially through this time, have a responsibility to give – for our missionaries, our leaders, and our church. Giving is also another way we worship God through obedience.

There are several ways to give right now:

1.) Mail in a check to the church

      2.) Give through our website.
      Go to mhchurch.org/give

      3.) Give through the app
Go to “Donate” in the MH Church App and follow the instructions

4.) Go to your bank and set your tithe as a “Bill Pay”
      Call you bank for instructions.

  • MH Church Family Teams: You should have received an email from Pastor Aaron stating that you are on a Family Team. These teams were designed to help us stay in touch with one another, and make sure every one is up to date on information through this time.

If you have questions about this, did not receive an email, or don’t know what team you are on, please contact Pastor Aaron at aaron@thebridgestorrs.org

  • Shelby Kate and Campus Outreach (UPDATED):
Shelby Kate is on the final leg of her support! She is still looking for individuals to partner with her both prayerfully and financially as she goes on staff with a college ministry called Campus Outreach. She currently needs $1,385 in monthly support. If 14 people were willing to give $100/month then her goal would be reached! Pray and consider if God would lead you to this amount or another according to your financial ability! She is in need of monthly support in order to have a consistent income to live off of. If you’d like more information, visit: codfw.org or feel free to contact her at 573-275-2003. Her email address is shelbykate.mccord@campusoutreach.org.

Here is her video, link for prayer updates, as well as her giving link.
